Epoxy Coatings Top

Today, garages have graduated from simple storage areas, becoming organized shops or showrooms. Every bit of attention that a homeowner pays to decorating the home is also paid to the garage...right down to what goes on the cement floors.

Garage floor coverings have the versatility to go with any style of décor. Looks can range from simple gray concrete with a sealer to a more complex color base with multicolor flakes in it, offering a design similar to granite or terrazzo. Acrylic flakes come in a wide selection of colors, offering an almost endless choice of combinations. This system provides an excellent wearing surface that is chemical and stain resistant, and can stand up to vehicle traffic.

Quartz coatings are multicolored aggregates 1/32" in diameter, spread onto the surface of 100% solid epoxy to create a brilliant and varied surface. Quartz coatings have the impact resistance not normally found with the acrylic paint flakes.

Both flakes and quartz additives add traction as well as design appeal. If more traction is required, we have additives and techniques to achieve this.

Choosing the design for your garage floor system can be as simple as matching the color of your house or as involved as hiding any imperfections or flaws in the existing floor. Coating the existing concrete with only a sealer, will allow imperfections to show through. A colored base with the acrylic flakes or quartz aggregate would cover most any imperfections that may exist. We have thousands of color combinations available for you!

It is important to remember that the most important part of applying epoxy flooring is the preparation. Using a dust-free mechanical floor grinder is the best method for preparing the surface and opening the pores of the concrete. This makes it ready to bond with the new finish. In some cases, the use of a commercial-grade pressure washer, using organic or environmentally friendly detergents, can be effective.
